The Nature

Nature is amazing, and even more so when it surprises us with spectacular views, flowers, cliffs, waterfalls... Did you know that geometry is also part of nature and its beauty? We can find it in many places, some of which we could not even imagine.

Nature is made up of geometric and magical shapes, successions of numbers that amaze humans. The flowers of a petunia are perfect pentagons, the leaves of the nasturtium show the radii of the circumference, palm trees develop their leaves in semicircles..... There are also many other shapes such as the snowflake or animal creations such as the bee panel.

While researching this topic, I would like to share with you an impressive place which we can visit with relative ease, since we only need to take a plane: The Giant's Causeway in Ireland. This geological formation attracts hundreds of thousands of tourists who walk along its 6 kilometres of strange cobblestones, which were not the product of any human, but of the contact with the waves of the sea that ended up creating hexagonal figures, simply by the erosion of the water. The story revolves around a myth, but in reality geometry and nature are more present than we think.

We can find many irregular shapes in nature, and we can also find many very regular ones which can be described with detailed mathematical precision, like the nautilus shell for example, which can be associated with a logarithmic spiral. It is intended to show that mathematics is everywhere and that it is not just about beads and numbers, but that we are constantly interacting with mathematics without even realising it. In conclusion we can see how geometry is all around us constantly and that it is part of creation, a very detailed and complex creation that even we ourselves form it.

The goal of being a good mathematician lies mainly in observation, so I leave you in charge of this and you will find an infinity of geometric figures around you, I assure you.
